ARBI MASALA

Arbi Masala | Dry Masala Arbi | শুকনো গাঁঠি কচুর | Sukhi Arbi Masala is a vegetarian recipe, which is made of taro root. The taro root is fried with special masala; it is an ideal recipe for travelling/tiffin. 

SERVING: 4-5servings

COOKING TIME: 20min (approx.)

CALORIES COUNTS: 123 Calories (approx.) / 1cup

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1½tsp sugar
  • ½cup mustard oil
  • 1tsp cumin powder
  • 1tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1tsp turmeric powder
  • 1tsp red chilli powder
  • 1tsp coriander powder
  • 2tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • ~8-10pcs fresh curry leaves 
  • 600g taro root (gathi kochu)
  • 1tsp carom seeds (ajwain seeds)
  • 2pcs slitted green chilli (optional)  
  • 1tbsp dry mango powder (amchur powder)

TIP: 
Q: How to cook Arbi or Taro Root so that less salivary?

Ans: Before cooking or frying, only microwave or steam the taro root (gathi kochu). It will become more salivary upon boiling.
